4 Claude Code plugins
Four free, open-source plugins for when Claude Code keeps running out of tokens.
The four tools from our reel "you're using Claude Code wrong". All four are free and open source on GitHub. Checked on 2026-10-25; the numbers below are what each project says about itself, not our own tests.
1. Ponytail: writes only the code the task needs
Link: https://github.com/DietrichGebert/ponytail (MIT licence)
A skill that makes your AI agent "think like the laziest senior dev in the room": before writing code it checks whether the code needs to exist, whether the project already has it, or whether the browser or standard library already does it. Its own benchmark (Claude Code, 39 tasks, 5 runs each) reports 45% fewer output tokens and 53% less code, with tests still written for risky logic.
Install (in Claude Code, two separate prompts):
/plugin marketplace add DietrichGebert/ponytail
/plugin install ponytail@ponytailOnly install it from DietrichGebert/ponytail (the author warns about copies).
2. OmniRoute: keeps you coding when your limit runs out
Link: https://github.com/cheaper-inference/OmniRoute (MIT licence)
A free AI gateway that runs on your computer. You connect your own accounts with AI providers (it lists 375 providers, 150+ with free tiers), point Claude Code at it, and when one provider's limit runs out it switches to the next available model. The project estimates that the free tiers add up to about 1.6 billion tokens a month, but that is the total of separate providers' free plans, not tokens OmniRoute gives you: you sign up for each one yourself.
Install:
npm install -g omniroute
omnirouteThen connect a provider in the dashboard that opens, and start Claude Code through it with omniroute launch.
Good to know:
- When it switches, Claude Code may be talking to another company's model (Kimi, GLM, Gemini...), not Claude.
- Read each provider's terms before connecting it; the project marks some as "avoid" itself.
- Use the latest version: versions before 3.8.49 had a serious security bug (fixed in September 2026).
3. Graphify: a map of your codebase Claude can look things up in
Link: https://github.com/Graphify-Labs/graphify (Apache-2.0 licence)
Type /graphify . and it turns your whole project (code, docs, PDFs) into a knowledge graph saved in a graphify-out/ folder. Claude can then query the graph instead of searching through the same files again and again. Code is read on your computer, without an AI model; docs and images use your assistant's model.
Install (needs Python 3.10+ and uv):
uv tool install graphifyy
graphify installThen open Claude Code in your project and type /graphify .
(The package name really has two y's: graphifyy. The command is graphify.)
4. Agent Skills: senior-engineer habits as skills
Link: https://github.com/addyosmani/agent-skills (MIT licence)
A pack of engineering skills by Addy Osmani: 24 skills for each stage of building software (spec, plan, build, test, review, ship) plus one that picks the right skill for what you're doing. It also adds slash commands like /spec, /plan, /build, /test and /ship.
Install (in Claude Code):
/plugin marketplace add addyosmani/agent-skills
/plugin install agent-skills@addy-agent-skillsOr, for any agent: npx skills add addyosmani/agent-skills
Not sponsored. We have no connection to any of these projects.
